Description

Ross Castle in Killarney National Park is a great family destination.

FREE: View the exterior of the castle and go for a a walk around the grounds and The National Park. Have a picnic and feed the ducks. Ciar’s Quest is a new addition (July 2022) to Ross Castle. It’s free and suitable for all ages (and is buggy friendly).

Option to pay for a tour of the castle and learn the history of the area. The first Wednesday of every month is free at selected OPW sites. See Heritage Ireland for details.

On a wet day a castle tour and a boat tour of the lakes would make a good combination.

Make sure to confirm seasonal opening hours before visiting.

Get here via car, jaunting car or walk/cycle from town.

It’s about 30 minute walk / 10 minute cycle from Knockreer Playground (similar distance from Killarney House & Gardens) -all off road.
